The 3 biggest challenges in the world!!!                     

                        

1.       Racism in the world:

Racism has existed throughout human history. It may be defined as the hatred of one person by another -or the belief that another person is less than human- because of skin color, language, customs, place of birth or any factor that supposedly reveals the basic nature of that person. It has influenced wars, slavery, the formation of nations, and legal codes.

Racism is also a very touchy subject for some people. Some people argue that talking about supporting racial discrimination and prejudice is just words and that free speech should allow such views to be aired without restriction. Others point out that these words can lead to some very dire and serious consequences (the Nazi government policies being one example).


 

                 

2.       Terrorism in the world:

In my mind each problem has a solution, it just requires a set structure of fact-finding, testing of all possible scenarios and then analyzing and set of actions to solve the problem.

Terrorism has always been a threat for people since time began. But as years pass by, there seems to be no difference in its intensity. It seems to be getting worse every time.

People are stuck in the middle of a fight between these extremist groups and the government, irrespective of which country it may be. Terrorism should be stopped immediately, before it is too late.

3.       Hunger and World Poverty

About 25,000 people die every day of hunger or hunger-related causes, according to the United Nations. This is one person every three and a half seconds, as you can see on this display. Unfortunately, it is children who die most often.

Yet there is plenty of food in the world for everyone. The problem is that hungry people are trapped in severe poverty. They lack the money to buy enough food to nourish themselves. Being constantly malnourished, they become weaker and often sick. This makes them increasingly less able to work, which then makes them even poorer and hungrier. This downward spiral often continues until death for them and their families.

•  How can I work on that as a proffesional?

First of all, ‘Everybody different, everybody equal!’

We know that as a Primary School Teacher, this slogan is very important. Therefore we must be a real-model! And we should teach behaving well and respect to all ideas.

The second one, we can teach that; solving conflicts in my life without making violence and war. So it is very clear! Maybe it is very basic but it is a good idea for the first step.
      Finally, We must be grateful for what we have got, a lot of foods, drinks, parents etc. Cause of a lot of people die everyday of hunger. And many children have not got parents and warm home…

Challenge 2

First of all we talked about differences Globalization and Internalization. Perhaps we could think that ‘These are same!’ But in reality, this two word have small different meanings.

So we made a brainstorm about concepts, with our group-friends and wrote down. And then discussed with all class. It was enjoyable and effective for me!

ØHOW CAN SCHOOLS AND LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS FOR CHILDRENS AND YOUTH GO GLOBAL TODAY?

      Today, we able to use computer, internet, very different websites and something like that. So as a teacher we have got a lot of chance for new global world.

Primarily we have to know tools, opportunities and choices. For example ı had a wonderful teacher when ı was a student at high school. He is very social and open minded person and he was trying teach to us this viewpoint. So we had international Project (Comenius, is one of the most popular international education programmes for UK schools, colleges and local authorities) with five country, they were Turkey, Germany, Holland, Norway and Latvia.The Project name was ‘Solving conflicts in my school without making violence and war!’

We worked on this Project and made a few videos like a sketch etc. Finally we had a meeting in Latvia, therefore i went to Latvia with my teachers and friends. It was namable experience for me! We showed and presented our culture, educational system, city, country, culture etc.

After one year, of course they came to Turkey, İzmir.
To be honest it was very nice memory for all of them.

 

What is important for pupils and students to learn?

      As you can see we have a lot of things to be open-minded…

·        Work an international Project!

·        Give a chance to tell about themselves!

·        Think creatively!

·        Allow them to ask questions!

·        Motivate to pupils!

·        Try to interactive lessons!

Challenge 3

   

Aristotle once said, "It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

" Listening to others' ideas may not be easy, but it could be an valuable way to learn something new or change your perspective on life.

          WHAT TOOLS CAN WE USE TO BE OPEN MİNDED?

               

                What does mean ‘to be open minded’? We have to think about it. As simple definition, having or showing a mind receptive to new ideas or arguments. That means you haven't got any prejudice about anybody.And while you are listening someone, becoming more flexible. But how can ı be open-minded? Here are some suggestions.

è First of all realize that people's beliefs are shaped by genes, personality, disposition, life experiences, and historical context. It is possible that if you were born in a different time and place, or experienced different things in life, you would have a totally different belief system.

èDo some research. If you often find yourself saying, "Why would someone DO that?" or "I can't imagine doing that" or "People are so ignorant!" you may need look into other peoples' lives and way of thinking. As we all know by now, the internet is an excellent source of information. Having at least a base knowledge of different subjects will not only give you a chance to expand your perspective, it will give you more credibility when speaking to others. An atheist speaking to a Christian who has a thorough knowledge of the Bible is likely to be taken much more serious.

 èPick your battles carefully. Sometimes you will never understand someone else's point of view and they won't get yours. Taking a stand for your beliefs does not require you to argue with every person every time you talk about it.

                èReading a lot from newspapers, magazines, historical resources, politics and thinking about all of them. Maybe sharing your ideas with the others and listening their ideas.

      If you have opportunity you must travel for different countries, beliefs, cultures, way of livings etc…

              

• What is my culture shock?

      When I came to Denmark, I looked my around, roads, houses and I was surprised. Because I was coming from Turkey and Turkey's population of 70 million. So it is very crowded noisy also. Denmark is very calm and quiet. I thought that ‘There are retired persons lives’.

      Lessons and students are strange for me. In Turkey, all students have to respect teachers and say like that, ‘Can I ask a question, my teacher, sir or madam?!’ Eating and drinking are forbidden during lesson. If you want to eat you have to wait for break.

      All people free in Denmark in fact I like that and one more interesting experience for me I want to share; our headscarf is very big problem for Turkey. You would not be a teacher with a headscarf. In Denmark it is normal and you are free. Also we have got a ‘praying room’ at Blaagaard. It is very interesting for me and wonderful…
     

    IT IS TO BE OPEN MİNDED AND TO RESPECT ALL OF THEM…

Challenge 4

How to cope with cultural dilemmas in an increasingly globalized world?

     For starters, we have to explore the main meaning when we heard concept of culture. There are many definition of the concept of Culture.
İf you want to understand this concept; you have to think about the human. People's perceptions and beliefs are very important in shaping culture.
     When we had a brainstorm about the concept of culture with classroom, we have seen that:

·        Habbits

·        Values

·        Religion

·        Language

·        Climate

·        History

·        Food

·        Celebrations

·        Upbringing

·        Traditions

     And then, we understand that; culture in interaction with many concepts. At the same time, Culture is not stable, it has got dynamic structure. It can be added something on and it is changeable. Or with globalization, when several cultures come together, maybe it can occur different and new culture.

Allright, Can we think about that some cultures are better than others?

     I don’t think so! All humans are equal and their cultures are equal also. In essence, all humans have the same needs. Only different perspectives on life and perceptions.

"Why is it important to be aware of and to have knowledge about the concept of culture, when working as a social worker or as a teacher?"

     My department is Elementary School Teacher (7-11 age group) so; There is something I want to specify. Children's first teacher is mother. We are -as a teacher- the second mothers of children. Therefore, childrens can copy our behaviours easily.

     So, we have to be sensitive and objective person. We must treat each student equally. You know, Our perspective, will affect students' point of view.

Challenge 6

What is the third world, and why are some countries developing while others claim to be developed?




Who is responsible?...



At the beginning of the course we had a question form about third world. To finding correct answer quite difficult so one of our friends answered 6 questions correctly and Johnny gave a gift to her. We had 8 questions totally. I found quite sad news about third world that was 17 children die as a result of poverty each minute.

And then we talked about Michel Foucult’s perspective on course. I've heard this name for the first time so ı have to search him. He was a French philosopher and historian of ideas. He held a chair at the prestigious Collège de France with the title "History of Systems of Thought," and also taught at the University at Buffalo and the University of California, Berkeley.

We analyzed ‘Sytema natura’ with all class. American, European, Asiatic, African… To be honest ı don’t like this viewpoint.

Mohammed Seid Shemshe elementary and junior school:

     

In my opinion…

-Determined and hard-working teacher

-They have an interactive lesson

-The teacher trying to improve his English

-He is open minded person

-He has a sense of humor

-He make laughs to pupils

-He don’t use violence to students

Punishments, like kneeling outside, beating with sticks. This teacher didn't punish the students while he was been observed but since all the other teachers in the teacher's room has something they could use for punishment.

      According to me….

·        Conscience-proof teacher

·        He don’t like teaching

·        His lessons are very boring

·        He don’t want improve his methods

·        Lazy and arrogant

     

Male teacher he uses sexual favors for letting the female students pass. The Indian teacher, when he goes the math topic exactly like written in book. This situations are really shameful.
