Challenge 7

How can we transform cultural diversity into valuable resources at home?

            First activity:

            We had a cartoon to talk about it with our group friends. It has a speech bubble.  The cartoon consisted four monkeys, one of them had a long legs. So the other monkeys were looking confused. We had to write a sentence to speech bubble.

            Second activity:

            Lillian called all of us for make a line and then she asked different questions, if we agreed on the question took a step ahead and if we didn’t agree took a step back. It was funny and pragmatic for me. We have seen that again everybody have different backgrounds.

            Third activity:

            We had a question to discuss with all class ‘What kind activities for pupils?’ Made a brainstorm for how to make an activity for students to teach them about diversity! I got some things about it:

            -Personal presentation

            -Make the kind of games

            -Singing song

            -Cultural meals

            -Costumes from different countries

            -Activities in the open air (garden, park…)

            -Projects about various cultures

New boy...

            Fourth activity:

            We watched a short movie about ‘new boy’ and then we had questions about it.

            - What does this have to do with diversity?

                        They have to be open minded and tolerant!

-What did the teacher try to do?

            Teacher made presentation for new boy and said ‘He is your new friend, that’s all, you can sit here.’

            -What could/should the teacher have done?
                      ·        She could ask ‘where are you from, what about your parents?’ something like that
                      ·        He could have better introduction
                      ·        She could prepare ‘welcome party!’ for new boy
                      ·        She could be more friendly

            Fifth activity:

            We watched a video from multilingual school. I think, multicultural education is very difficult and enjoyable. As a teacher we have to behave equal to pupils. To be honest I like very much this video cause of everyone is smiling, everyone seems satisfied.              

            Last activity:

            We had different and colorful pictures to make a common story. Firstly we had to put in order them and then chose one of them. We lined up, told something about pictures (in English and in own language) It was funny and pragmatic for me.

            To be honest in this course, we had a lot of activities and brain storms. As a teacher, globalization and culture diversity are very important.  I am thinking to use these methods in the future.
